Bobby Bowden has been a 'figurehead' for the past several years of coaching. This is evident by the lack of wearing a headset in many games, and when he does it is only briefly.
They'll have "players" to take the bowl game, just not those they caught cheating on what FSU considers an education.
Evidence of FSU being second rate:
1 Florida's taxpayers financed their stadium instead of their boosters...
2 FSU consistently since change from Florida State College for Women (FSCW) has had lower academic standards than University of Florida, both GPA and standardized test scores for entrance to the University.
3 FSU tries to rewrite history by claiming the school has roots back to 1851 claiming relation to a school built by one of Thomas Jefferson's relatives (all in an effort to appear more established than the University of Florida)
4 FSU claims to have created something called Seminole ? LightningWater three years prior to the creation of Gatorade, but has no proof that that drink ever existed, and if it did why didn't it enter into popular circulation like Gatorade
I could go on and on, the fact of the matter is that FSU knows they are second rate, so they try to manipulate their numbers and history so they can look "good"...Their cheating in the so-called academic realm at FSU is no surprise. It's probably the first time they were caught.
I will give them one credit, and that is their Drama and Music Department.
Here endeth the sermon.

Bobby doesn't want to leave FSU nor will FSU force him to retire. However bad the past few years have been for Florida State, Bobby Bowden has made the Seminoles a household name in college football, and that isn't going to change because of a few bad seasons. As for who will Bobby's successors be? I personally would love to see Mickey Andrews - he is hands down one of the BEST defensive coaches in college football - however horrible the FSU offense is, our defense is always solid. Who knows though. Bobby brought in Chuck Amato as the "Executive Head Coach" and Jimbo as the Offensive Coordinator for a reason and either guy would be more than qualified to take over Bobby's position.

I am a big fan of Coach Bobby Bowden and I would really like to see Florida State do well because of him. In the world of college football it seems as though once you win a national championship (FSU won in '99) you are expected and held to a higher standard as long as you continue coaching. While this is understandable to a certain extent it is also important to understand the difficulty of fulfilling the expectation of a national championship.
As far as the upcoming bowl game (Music City Bowl) vs. Kentucky, yes, they will have enough players. It is unfortunate because this is not something I would expect out of a Bobby Bowden team. I have a real appreciation and respect for Coach Bowden's class, humble mentality, and desire to teach. Why this hasn't rubbed off to his to entire team is unclear to me.

He should have retired 5 years ago, he's just in a contest with Jo Pa to see who will retire first so the other can get the all time wins record. All while doing disservice to once proud programs. (Though I don't mind seeing Fla St. in the gutter)
