I have a new 207. It had a fault with the seatbelt/airbag system repaired earlier today. When I was driving home my footwell area became very hot. I asked my passenger did they have the same problem but they didn't. By the time I got petrol (40 mins drive) my feet were on fire. It felt like I had my feet in a over on the highest gas mark possible. I haven't had this before so I turned off the temp which was set to heating footwell & side windows. It seemed to sort it out. Does anyone know what causes the drivers footwell to become very very hot? I noticed that I could feel the heat more when pressing the clutch down.Thank you.

Sorry I forgot to mention its a Peugeot 207. The temperature was on 1 which is the minimum setting it can be on so it wasn't this. It's never happened before & it was on exactly the same setting when I left it at the dealer & it was fine then but it started when I drove the car home.

Ty for your replies. The dealer repaired the seatbelt system which connects to the airbags. Basically the airbags wouldn't come out because the seatbelt system was saying noone was in the passenger seats. I don't think they replaced the airbags just this seatbelt system which is connected. I was thinking of giving the dealer a call tomorrow after I've examined the car under the driver footwell.

First, check your vents where the heat flows from, one of them could be plugged with something. Some heater cores (the part where the hot engine coolant flows through a mini-radiator to give you heat in your car) are located in the centre part of your console, near the floor. If this is the case, some of the panels may be loose or the shielding not there. (If some of the dash panels had to be removed for the repair, then something may be misaligned)

when you had the repair done they might of knocked off the vent system. what i mean is underneath your dash board is a set of tubes that direct your heat so if you want the windshield heated they close a vent and redirect the heat to it. so it sounds like while working on your problem that is what was done, you say when you turned the heat off it stopped. i would have them take a look at that.

You haven't mentioned what kind of car this is... My first impression is that there is something wrong with your catalytic converter. It could be overheating and getting red hot right under your feet. This is very dangerous and you should have it examined by the dealership that you bought it at!!!!!!!! What kind of car is this, a GM????

when the service station replaced the air bag, they may have removed insulation under the rug so you could feel the heat from the exhaust pipe when your driving.
