Not necessarily. It means that you were trying too hard to show yourself as someone else. It usually has to do with an unfavorable situation for the person sees right through, so to speak. It's like a double agenda or something. Some can tell the real you, and you can fool some.
Either way... you weren't showing your true colors, and someone unveiled you.

probably but my wife said that because I am so white (really really pale) that you can see pretty much every vein in my legs so she can see almost through me!
Or when they say I can see through you they might be looking in one and ear and see out the other side (I've been told that before) But I'm not stupid I just play stupid so people don't come to me with hard questions or problems.

From what I know, it means that instead of seeing your true self on the outside, that person only sees you shallow outside.
