Im a Junior. I had a bad freshman year of high school but im back on track and by the end of my Junior year I should have a 3.3 or a little higher, my school doesnt weight honors, only AP's, which they only give a .5 for them. I have had a big grade improvement trend. 2.75, 3.57, 3.85 so far. Im African-American, and going to be a first genereation college student. Im in numerous honors/AP classes.
SAT's should be around 2000, with math score really high. Im an intelligent kid but I had a lot of problems my freshman year, which I will explain in my essay.
My EC's include: FBLA(Chairman/Tresurer) National Business Honor Society, Science Honor Society, Senior Math Team, Freshman BBall (Co-Captain), JV BBall (Co-Captain), Varsity Spring/Winter Track for 11th and 12th grade(Captain). Technology Student Association, tutor. I also volunteer at a local church with 1st graders.
Honestly what are my chances for Cornell? I will be applying ED, majoring in Economics. Other school suggestions?

You are on a good track, And I think that you will get into some very good colleges.

But to be completely honest, unless you can really bring up your grades more and get higher than 2000 on your SATs, I don't see you making it into an Ivy League school. Of the schools in the Ivy league, your best shot is at Cornell. You should try for it -- but have a backup plan.

As for other schools that you should look at -- Princeton Review has a tool where you enter information about your interests and your background & it gives you a list of appropriate schools. The link is below

I'd suggest prepping hard for the SATs and SAT Subject Tests, to see what you can do to bring those up. How many AP classes will you have taken/be enrolled in by the time you apply? Have you taken any AP tests, and if so, how did you score?

You want to keep your GPA as high as you can, while taking challenging classes, and get these scores up as high as you can, also.

ECs/community service look good. First generation college student typically very appealing to colleges, and they generally cut a bit more slack in interpreting your application.

ED sounds good, too, if you're set on Cornell. It sounds as if you want a top-quality education at a larger school. You might also want to consider: Dartmouth, UPenn, Duke, University of North Carolina Chapel Hill, University of Virginia, University of Richmond. If you would consider a smaller liberal arts school, look at the US News & World Report website, search "college rankings" and check out any of the Top 25 Liberal Arts colleges. Most of them will have an Economics major.

Best of luck to you!

I would say your ethnicity will help you, but now colleges are increasingly not paying attention to ethnic background. And most people don't understand that GPA and SATs matter a lot more than extracurricular activities, which kinda "decorate" your application and look good, but ultimately, they are really not the meat of your application. Your GPA is low for Cornell, to be honest... you should have close to a 4.0. Your SAT is in the range but on the lower end of the range. Have some other options available. Just being realistic here. Even NYU you should have a 3.6 at least.

I think you have a chance but not a very high one.
I think you need to just continue to work hard during your junior year and keep the grades up.
