If the United States falls into a deep recession all Americans will be hurt, some irreparably.
What the joke-sters in England (UK) don't understand is how deeply our economies are intertwined. If American falls into recession so will the European community. China would no longer have a market place and would contract rather harshly as well.
A deep recession in the States would have a global impact.
Buy gold in hard metal, buy tenths so you can use them as $100.00 each it will be a good hedge for you when the crash happens.

Most of our goods are bought overseas. The less our money is worth the more we have to pay for these products. This means the price of everything is going to rise and it will hurt American consumers. 98% of our clothes are bought from foreign markets and so is a lot of our wood and toys. The price rises on all of this.

My worth I do not measure in financial terms.
My buying power is a privilege. I look forward to sharing our wealth with the rest of the world.
If China and India consumed resources like the U.S. they would need two planet earths! Maybe we need to cut back our spending. Christmas is a horrible corruption of our faith turned commercial, for example, we use our "power" to buy white elephants!
We also have the most extensive infrastructure on earth, that's not going to disappear overnight, and if it does we have bigger problems than the economy.

That would sting the economy for awhile, but as is happening now, a lot of European countries are starting to set up shop in the U.S. due to cheaper costs and an intelligent workforce-so it wouldn't be that way for long.

Scroogee old bean-we deserve our belt tightening because we have more than enough of everything we need. Millions are starving and we can buy a meal and get one free. We need to focus on the plight of others rather than grab selfishly at the things we want.

Depends on how far it slides. From what I hear, the great depression was...depressing.
