In most baby name sites and books, the pronouciation is listed as LEE-a. But, the Leah I know, and a local TV personality named Leah both pronouce it as LAY-a.

Could both pronouciations work? And which one do you prefer? I personally like LAY-a, because that's the one I'm familiar with.

Also, how is the name Leigh pronouced? In most baby name sites it's LEE, but the Leigh I know pronouces it as LAY, to rhyme with Sleigh. Weird, huh?

i might assume that Leia is declared Lay-uh and that Leah is declared Lee-uh. in case you like it reported wisely (the prevalent public of the time besides) then i might spell it the two is Leah or as Lia.

All names are open to interpretation. There are no "rules" when it comes to spelling or pronunciation. It is pronounced however the person with the name says its pronounced.

They can be pronounced both ways. Personally, I prefer it pronounced "lay-a", but it's each to it's own.
