It looks like they're getting closer to a deal.
The deal will be left-hander Jon Lester, outfielder Coco Crisp, shortstop Jed Lowrie and right-hander Justin Masterson for Santana.

Good deal or not?

I really like Lester and Coco but I can't part with Ellsbury. So I'll be pretty happy if this is what goes down.

Sounds great to me!

As much as I like Coco Crisp & Jon Lester, I would hate for the Red Sox to part with Jacoby Ellsbury.

That sounds like a fantastic deal to me. The Red Sox need to get that deal done and my Christmas will be perfect!

Great deal for the Red Sox, horrible deal for the Twins. No way those 4 players are worth Santana, and to be quite honest Jacoby Ellsbury isnt worth Johan Santana. No "prospect" is worth it until they prove it in the bigs, the Twins need to get at least 1 proven all-star caliber player and then some prospects. The Sox arent giving up anything special.

Good deal for the Red Sox. Coco Crisp and Jon Lester are both pathetic players when put next to a player like Johan Santana. I like the Yankees but my true devotion lies to the Padres and I am hoping they can do something worthwhile this offseason. (cough, Alex Rios for some pitching, cough)

Sounds like a great deal to me. More competition between the Yankees and Red Sox and the other three teams in the AL east are that. The other three teams with no chance at all.

I'm not so sure. Being a huge Minnesota Twins fan it will be hard to see another center fielder playing center on opening day besides Torii Hunter, so naturally I'm not a big fan of Coco Crisp. Otherwise it is a good deal, because the Twins NEED to get rid of Santana soon, or else they are going to have to keep him and then loose him to free agency. Personally I would like this deal a lot more...

Yankees get Santana
Twins get....
Melky Cabrera (CF)
Phill Hughes (RHP)
Ian Kennedy (RHP)
Joba Chamberlain (RHP)

If the Orioles can get 5 players for Tejada, why wont teams offer the Twins just 3 good players for santana??? I dont think that other teams understand how great he is. This deal above, isnt asking a lot.

Absolutely. Giving up Lester is tough, but Santana is the real deal.

Weren't they close to a deal like weeks ago? This is why it's called hot stove. The Red Sox seem to be stirring to pot to force the Yankees to include Kennedy.

You must be on crack to think we would give our big three for Santana.

Oh, great - as if it's not hard enough for the Jays to compete in a division with two killer franchises. Now, we have to contend with the World Series champs possibly getting the best player in baseball.

Damn you, Red Sox....I'm tired of third place.

I'd love to have that happen because I just got a Jacoby Ellsbury jersey and as long Jacoby stays I'm happy.
