the definition of music is: an art of sound in time that expresses ideas and emotions in significant forms through the elements of rhythm, melody, harmony, and color. by that standard rap is missing 2, possibly 3 of the key ingredients of being considered music. i am not saying all rap sucks and takes no talent. i am saying that rap is a form of poetry with beat and rhythm and shouldn't be held in the position with rock, jazz, blues, etc. I am not an advocate for "rock" as it may seem, but i am an advocate for good music and today's state of music is horrible. so what i am asking is this- is rap music or catchy poetry and why does modern music pale in comparison to other decades? i dont want you to defend your opinion on how rap is god, i want you to justify

All of todays rap is annoying & just drags-same heavy beat & sounds/clicks/words that repeat over & over & I hate it!!!!(back in the 80's/my teen yrs, rap was ok)-some of it had great melody to it & it brings back memories from jr. high when I'd see the "breakdancers" in the halls.

Rap use to be good. The reason it sucks is because their videos show only half naked girls and their lyrics are about how much money and material things they have. As for music the lack of actual talent is was missing right now. You have these so called singers who consider whispering as actual singing. Music right now pretty much sucks.

Oh god, do no longer even point out Nickelback. besides the fact that i do no longer agree alongside with your selection of bands, and grow to be born later than your era, I do locate present day music to be sickening on the least. The scene has run out of originality, and the musicians are the two stealing different artists' artwork or starting to be "music" that appears like a piano dealing with a meat grinder. All in all, creativity is failing rapid, and we relatively want somebody who can relatively keep rhythm and not using a metronome to hold us decrease back to a pair solid, unique, solid music.
