Did you try going to "My Computer" and clicking on the D drive to see if it would open the disk? Maybe your Auto Run is not working right. Worth a shot.

Assuming that the dvd rom dirive is hooked up properly, and other dvds don't work, just go get a new dvd rom drive and install it. It should be about $40 and isn't that hard to do.

On windows, goto the device manager (Start>Settings>Control Panels>System>Hardware Tab). Then click the "+" next to Disk drives and find your DVD drive in there. Then right click it and choose "remove". Reboot your computer so it can reinstall the DVD-ROM driver. If this doesnt work, then its the drive itself, IDE channels screwed up, hardware failure / conflicts, or windows is corrupted.

Google search for firmware updates on the exact model of your dvd-rom. Update the firmware and reboot. It should work.

Go into control panel and see if it is listed in there, roll back the drivers for it and see it that helps, if not then un install it and then reboot your computer it should find it and re install it for you all by itself. if none of these things help then do a search for your problem.

Thats pretty vague my man. But, a lot of things can go wrong with drives. The laser can go out or the motor can wear out. They are very cheap to replace. Hardly never worth fixing.
