Most of us have shared about dealing with habitual liars at sometime. A thief is just as toxic.
It has been years but the children have brought home someone who should have never been allowed in our home. I had a sister in law who would visit and years later I would visit her and see a trinket or what not that I knew was mine. Eventually I confronted her and she naturally said No way it was hers. People like that don't seem to ever be embarrassed when they are outed. They tend to act like people are stupid. They know no boundaries they will steal from family and friends. That is if they can maintain a friendship for any length of time.

My daughter is a liar and a thief . We had to buy a safe to put our few valuables in. She even steals from her own daughter and they act so innocent when confronted. We won't have her here if we can help it until she gets help for her addiction.

Yes my stepdaughter. When she lived with us we had to put a lock on our bedroom door and a lock on our closet door and keep personal papers and other things in there. She is grown now but has a long history of stealing and once recently. She is a habitual liar also. Anyone who lies that much will also steal. I have no tolerance for this kind of behavior. She acts like everyone is supposed to just ignore it and act like nothing is wrong. I called her out on it. I will never feel the same about her. She has burned this bridge. I am polite for my husbands sake but I will never like her again.

Yes, afraid so, a family member, she is as nutty as a fruit cake, every time she visits anyone she has to take something, one time she asked to use the bathroom, and when she came down she looked like she had "put on a few pounds", she had wrapped a hand towel around her middle, tucked in her underwear....lol...it could be anything from a dishcloth to a bar of soap, I haven't seen her for about 12 yrs now, but I know other family follow her when she uses the bathroom lol... it's been a family joke for years, we could never be mad at her, she never attempted to take anything of value

The guy is a liar and a thief and yet you have remained married to him for 3 1/2 years...why? I certainly wouldn't.

Yes - 'nuff said. They no longer do that, thankfully.

On the humorous side, my departed kitty, Romeo, a Himmy, used to steal my jewelry...and other small trinkets. Didn't know it for eons, just thought I was getting 'ditzy' when I couldn't find stuff.

One time, while doing spring cleaning, I found most of my 'stuff' - hidden in the bottom of his toy basket!...then later actually caught him carrying an earring in his mouth! LOL

My klepto-kat!

Yes, it was also a close family member - my husband's sister. We owned a business and she worked for us. Although she was well paid, she still took things if she was left in the shop alone. I had loved her like my own sister but after that, I didn't even want to be around her. At family events, I avoided her when I could.

The whole neighborhood use to miss stuff all the time. Then one day someone caught someone stealing something that belonged to them, made them bring it back. As time went on that person got stealing again by yet another person. We no longer are loosing any thing now as the person that was taking the stuff is now in prison.

My husbands sister and her husband are like that. They will steal even a few pennies left in a dish. They don't visit often, but when they do we have to watch them carefully. They even tried to sue us at one time for non payment on something (can't remember what), but when I showed them the receipts they still didn't apologize. It's really a sad situation in their home.

I have never been a victim of a thief, knock on wood. When it's thievery within the family that would be a real slap in the face. I guess it's a sickness & they have no sense of shame.

Yes, I let a friend stay with me and noticed things were missing. When she finally got a place of her own, I noticed MY things were in her house, including a phone that was distinctive, it had my sons name on the bottom and she insisted it was hers! But she denied it all the way through. I terminated that friendship after that.
