A promise ring for marriage.. what are your thoughts? I always thought if you are going to buy a ring, and for that reason to promise marriage later in life, then wouldn't you just buy an engagement ring? Or wait until you can buy the engagement ring? Just a thought. What is your opinion?

My (now) husband bought me a promise ring and I thought it was a little goofy. I was also irritated because he could have spent more money on the engagement ring. But it turns out that I was able to use my promise ring as my Band for my engagement ring. They compliment each other well. I asked him why he ever got me a "promise ring" --- he just wanted to get me something nice that wasn't an engagement ring (we had only been together 5 months). I still think they are a waste of money - but i love mine. I am a hypocrite! hahaha

A promise ring is a for love and friendship, then you get an engagement ring if the feelings go deeper.

Promise rings are for high school kids. Adults should buy an engagement ring...If I would've ever got a promise ring I would have died laughing in his face. Thats childish.

I bought my wife what I could afford at the time. Just a cheap promise ring. She doesnt want a new one because it means so much to her. I dont mind, but I would buy her anything she asked for.

This reminds me of something from high school. And high school is a time when people make a lot of promises and don't keep many of them.
I don't think a promise ring speaks to mature relationship.
