My husband and I are planning to move our family of four to Fredericksburg,TX... Is this a great family place?

We want move next year sometime in September. I wanted to know if Fredericksburg,Tx is good place to raise a family because we have children ages 5 and 2. We want our kids to go to a good school and we have been looking for a good and somewhat small town. We do love the hill country and we love parks and the outdoors, that's why we thought that maybe Fredericksburg,Tx would be a nice town. My husband and I have visited Fredericksburg,Tx in the past (briefly) but I wanted to hear feedback from people/families that have just moved there or have lived there .... just things about the parks, schools and neighborhoods. Thank You and I greatly appreciate the information.

You are definitely moving to the best part of Texas - the hill country. My son and wife live in Austin and we have been to Fredericksburg probably a half dozen times. It is a great community and my son says he hears nothing but positive things about it, especially the schools. They are even thinking of moving there because of the schools. They are rated higher than Austin. I know all of this is anecdotal but I hope it helps a little. Good luck to you and your family!!

Ok, I don't live there, so just take this as my 2 cents from visiting and talking to locals there. I think it's one of the cutest places I've ever been. I talked to some locals there and they said they love it and it's a great place to have grown up. It seems like it from the outside, but we know these days that's not always a good assumption.

As far as the area, it would be so great to live in such close proximity to parks. There's Enchanted Rock and Pedernales Falls. Both are beautiful. If I could find work there, I'd love to live in the hill country. Good luck to you, I hope you find the info you're looking for. I just wanted to opine about what a cute place it is.
