i have a 92' buick century, and recently it has been making a loud clicking noise when i start the car. sometimes the car will cut off when running, and it's also shaking.

Starter Solenoid is doing the "Clicking". Check Wires & Cables at Battery Starter & Starter Solenoid are Clean & Secure. Dieing Sounds More Like the Alternator is Going Bad. Are You Due a Tune-up?

Buy a new battery if yours is over 4 years old. Remove and clean the insides of the battery cable connectors with the wire brush type shown below. Have the battery and charging system tested for free at an auto parts store.

I doubt it's either of them. My suggestion instead of guessing and wasting money throwing parts at it is to take it to a reputable repair facility for a proper diagnosis of the situation.

my guess from your basic description is crossfire between bad plug wires
