Hi I need to know what the difference is between haveing one variable and having three variable? I Know the way it is worked out will be diferent for all three but I am having a problem explaining it to my little sister. Please Help. Thanks

Sometimes there are convenient relationships between the variables. For example, you have twice as many apples as oranges, and you have one more banana than than you have apples. Once you know how many oranges you have you can easily find the other variables. Generally you need as many equations as you have variables. That is if you only have one variable, you only need one equation. If you have three variables, you need three equations.
