The only good reason to go into business is because you believe that you can do the job better than anyone presently doing the work. If you have lunch at some boring location and all your fellow workers feel the same about the ho hum offerings - then that may be a good indication that the area needs a really great sandwich shop. That is how you establish location. Now find a place for rent - obtain the permits, business license, health inspections, suppliers for the food and paper goods - financing (a food establishment has a lot of health regulations to comply with and may need a person on premise that has a food handlers certification). Experience working in a sandwich store would be a good idea. A basic understanding of business and accounting. Nothing to it really -Good luck.

Go to http://www.score.org/ and in the upper left hand corner, enter your zip code. On the next screen, you will get information on the nearest SCORE chapter. Call them and arrange for a free meeting with a SCORE counselor to discuss starting a sandwich shop.

SCORE is a nonprofit association dedicated to entrepreneur education and the formation, growth and success of small business nationwide. SCORE is a resource partner with the U.S. Small Business Administration (SBA).

SCORE has 389 chapters in locations throughout the United States and its territories, with 10,500 volunteers nationwide. Both working and retired executives and business owners donate time and expertise as business counselors.

If you don't know where to start, start at a local bookstore or library - read a few books on starting a small business.
