Definitely know what you are talking about. Be prepared for any possible rebuttal. Think about both sides when choosing your side. Be confident. Showing nerves is very detrimental when you debate. Good luck.

Make sure you know what you are talking about and that you can prove your point with a continous loop of facts. Also always appear confident in what you are saying, body language is just as importent as the point you are trying to make.

Stand your ground but not so much that you're not prepared to listen and change your mind if you hear a good peice of counter arguement.
