Just leave the phone in the car...who are you? The President?! and you have to be in contact with your staff 24/7?

You shouldn't be on the cell if you are having alone time with your spouse. Tell the person on the phone that you will talk with them later and that you are on a date. It is not okay for the other person to say grace while you are still on the phone....

Talking on a cell phone while dining is totally rude. Someone needs to turn it off at a time like this. What an idiot!

Proper manners are to leave all telephone conversations until after dinner regardless of who you are with. Never talk on the phone during grace.

Say something since it bothers you. Normally at dinner time you enjoy your meal without intrusions. If its an important phone call your expecting then warn your guest ahead of time that you may need to take an important call. Friends and others that are not important at that very moment just to chat and say hi. Let them know they caught you in the middle of dinner and that you will call them back.

For her mother she talks to 9 times a day im sure she can wait a half hour to call her mother back.

First of all i was raised that it is in polite to talk at the table when your eating. If me and my spouse were having dinner and someone called i would let them know that i was in the middle of dinner and to call back later. When it comes to saying grace we are thanking god for what we are about to recieve the conversation should have ended period.

best of luck

I don't think it's polite to be on your phone in the restaurant anyways, no matter who you dine with. I don't want to hear other people's phone conversations when I'm out to dinner. If a person must take a call, take it outside. Very simple.....

I think unless its something of importance theres no reason why anyone should be on the phone while you are spending time let alone dining with your spouse....It just goes to show you the lack of respect they really have for you when they do things like that....Unless it's one of our chidren, my husband and I are second in each other's life...Thats how it should be...

It would be proper to get off the phone no matter who you are dining with. Saying grace has nothing to do with it. My partner can say grace and it is just for her since we don't share the same belief system.

You should end the conversation or ask if you can call that person back after dinner. If it is a very important call, (your father is trying to tell you his cancer diagnosis) then leave the table and go to a private place.
