Because some people think that saving your self for marrage went out with hoop skirts and peace and LOVE baby.
Personally morals are morals and you either have them or dont. Way too many people treat sex the same as a handshake now adays and its sad. While I do value openness when talking about sex I dont belive you should just go have sex when ever. My sister in law gave me the best advice on sex I ever heard when I was about 13. She said when you decide to have sex you need to think about it and ask youself if we ever break up will I regret this? Because I asked myself that I decided to wait and while I wasnt married I felt I was commited and made that choice at 17, we broke up, I met someone else and I also slept with him. I also married him and we now have two children together as well as his daughter. I can honestly say I dont regret my decison either time and if I had to to do again then yes I would do it again. Some people think I'm oldfashoned for doing this. My best friend has only ever had sex with her husband. He was her high school sweetheart. That must be oldfashoned as well. The funny part....I'm 26 she is 25. What old farts we are!

The year has nothing to do with the absolute truth about morality. Unfortunately, many people don't seem to understand that. Most people tend to have a situational morality rather than an absolute morality. Most people tend to believe that if most other people do not object to a behavior, then it is not immoral. The question to which you refer asks if living together before marriage is a sin. The correct answer actually depends on the source of the asker's moral code, because, if the source is the Bible, then yes, it is a sin, no matter what year it is.

Sweetie, premarital sex has been going on as long as the human race has existed! I laughed my *** off at a bridal shower years ago when the bride to be was given a pair of crotchless panties... The "wiser" ladies there were discussing how back in their day they call them "picnic pants"!! ssssshhhhh - premartial sex for the older generations is a oh hell, no-no & suppose to be top secret! However, do the math on your grandparents ages & their parents anniverseries... same with your parents or aunts & uncles!
2007 or 1807 - doesn't matter...

The year 2007 has a lot to do with it ,not in the way most people think but in the year 2007 there is a lot more dangers disease etc.to deal with.In this fast pace world dealing with an unplanned pregnancy is also life altering.Other than those things the year is totally irrelevant.Saying something is o.k. just because it is socially acceptable is just stupid. It used to be socially acceptable to smoke, use heroin, cocaine also.

I guess the later the year, the more people find premarital sex okay, "normal". But then look at the 60's & 70's, it seems everybody was having sex with everybody (not me, I was just a baby). I think people should be more careful than ever these days because of aids and STD's.

I think they are saying that in the present time it seems expected for people to have premarital sex as we do not have the morals that we did the past. Saying it it 2007 in responce to a question is basically telling that person to 'get with the times' or whatever is being talked about is outdated.

Because a lot of people make determinations on right and wrong based on popular opinion. Since popular opinion varies depending upon the date, these people will cite the date when giving their opinion on morality.
Wont it be interesting when popular opinion shifts? Will we hear this same person say "Helll-lo! It's 2037! That kind of behavior just isn't right!"
I think (and I hope you agree) that truth depends on neither popular opinion nor the date. Imagine someone living in 1820 in Georgia saying "Of COURSE slavery is fine! It's 1820, and everyone knows it's ok!

I think they are saying that this is not 1950 when kids were told that even just kissing a person could make you pregnant, its 2007 and kids do whatever the hell they want because they can get away with anything. Not like in the olden days where your parents could punish you or raise you however they wanted to without the state telling them if it was right or wrong.

They are saying your train of thought is considered morally restrictive enough to be out of date IE like from those born in the 1940's.
There was a time where people married much because the supply of husbands for wives was short from the war (and thus women were eager to "lock" men into spousal-ship with marriage) and because women had a tough time becoming well employed or earning a living without men's help. But, nowadays, women can easily be independent their whole lives and raise kids without being married....or worrying about keeping a certain religious morality just to "earn" a relationship.
There is less fear and more freedom in this "new generation".

Basically times have changed since premarital sex was a taboo subject and you waited till marraige.
Now, with the divorce rate so high, i feel that people find it more acceptable (with the way the world is!) that this is the standard.
I suppose it is a personal moral issue and what you believe in.
