Okay so I'm new to this whole thing...ftp wise. I just got hosted on someone's site and i need to log in to edit it...but HOW? I'm really stupid when it comes to this sort of thing...what is ftp and how do i log in to edit my account?!

so i entered the ip in the server and all that came up was "This person has not added anything" kind of thing...how do i log in from there?

FTP is "File Transfer Protocol" - a way for you to put files to or get files from the remote computer. FTP does not normally allow you to edit, though. You want either a Terminal Services session or a terminal emulator and keyboard editor. Since I have clue of the site's rules, all I can suggest is to get to the site's administrator and ask for advice.
