I'm 24 years old. Just recently, I've decided to change my major to Information Technology. I've heard that Southeastern Louisiana (4 year institution) has a great IT program. However, that'll extend my program to 2 more years.

Now, University of Phoenix allows me to earn my B.S degree in 2 years. Do you feel that this is credible and will benefit me at all? I know someone who's getting their Bachelor's from Phoenix, but I know that most employers don't receive degrees from Phoenix (online) as they will from a 4 year institution. How would you feel if you had to choose between the 2 colleges?

UoP is indeed a regionally accredited 4-year college. They also offer master's degrees and doctorates. As far as level of college - they are the same as SLU.

You can complete a bachelor's at any college in about 2 years, it just requires that you go to school year-round and carry a max load (just like they do at UoP). The only problem with that is that most people can't handle that sort of load which is why UoP doesn't have a very high graduation rate.

There are much better options for you with higher levels of reputation that UoP. For that reason, I'd say SLU is the choice. If you really want to be done sooner then take a max load, don't take spring and summer break, and test out of some classes. You can do that anywhere.

Get your degree from the best college you can attend. If that's UoP then fine, if it's SLU that's great too. Pick the one that is the best, that you can complete. I suspect that's SLU.

Go to college its worth it. If you are a single parent with 5 kids then do the online college. But when applying for a job it looks better that you took the time a committed to a 4 year BS degree then a part time online course.
Plus its easier to get student loans when you go to full-time, not online college!
Besides when admission staff gets paid commission to get students at their school (U of Phoenix) how good can it be?

Go to school. Don't punk out with the online thing. Sure you get some training but it's not he quality or quanity that you'll need to be able to function in the work force properly. I mean would you want the person working on your computer to have gotten their degree online at home? How about your doctor? Your attorney?

Hang in there with a "real" school. I have yet to see an employer that is impressed with online degrees. -- And since that is the bottom line after your graduate (finding a good employer that wants to hire you) that is the best advice I can give you.
good luck with your career!
