Yet NeoCons dismiss him as a lowly Army Cheerleader.

Ike was the best in my life time. the rest just made it worse. Ronnie had a good press agent but did nothing that was good, and he slept through most of his briefings ( he had 000. to do the Soviet collapse but took credit for and used it to claim his deficit was good) Ronnie sold arms world wide to fund illegal wars, is that what America stands for these days?

Actually you are correct regarding Republicans since WWII. Of course Lincoln and TR were before WWII. Ike didn't do a great deal but not much was required of him as President. As a reward for his leadership in WWII he was made President. Times were good and life was good under Ike. As for neocons dismissing Ike as a cheer leader they need only to compare Ike with Dubya. Both were cheerleaders. Ike led the invasion of Europe that defeated the Nazis. Dubya on the other hand flew jets in the US, when he felt like it, and didn't go overseas because of daddy's money and influence. Georgie was quite safe. Ike was one of the few people in US history to be awarded the 5 star rank. Dubya was, what a first lieutenant? Both men may have achieved Commander-In-Chief but one of them warned us about the military industrial complex and how dangerous it would be the other embraces the military industrial complex and there are some serious problems associated with that union.

The best advice Eisenhower gave the United States was to beware the Military Industrial Complex which the Democrats have embraced whole heartedly.

In the 1960's Democrats thought that a never ending war was the best way to strip money from the American people and stuff their own pockets.

With Clinton the Democrats changed their policies and decided the best way to strip the tax payer was to reduce spending on human resources (50% under Clinton, 70% with Bush) and use that money to fund military research that never produced results. In other words, Clinton wouldn't buy armor because he was busy stuffing money down the pants of his corporate contributors.

There is nothing wrong with the Government funding defense research, but the levels that Clinton funded the military industrial complex were unparalleled, even in the 1960s.

President Bush manages to fund defense research while still spending 20% more of the US budget on human resources then Clinton did and from my perspective the current administration has much better oversight on how the money is spent.

No one ever reported where the billions Clinton dumped into research with the Military Industrial Complex went.

Eisenhower was right, the Dems will strip this nation raw and they will use the Military Industrial Complex to do it.

Mr. Eisenhower gets credit for starting the Interstate highway system. Beyond that, he did not do much.
