I applied and was admitted to UT AUSTIN but this year, (senior year) i have been slacking off and my semester average is now a 3.0. Last time I checked, my GPA was a 3.85. how much will the 3 average affect my 3.8? I heard UT has the option of revoking admission decisions if your GPA drops too low...should I be panicking right about now?

** sorry i wasn't clear. the 3.8 gpa was from my freshman-junior years. The 3 is from my senior year. How will that average up to be? and will it be cause enough for UT to reject me?
(called admissions, no answer :( )

No, I doubt they have the time to check every single applicant after the applicant was admitted. "Too low" would mean dropping from passing to failing. I can't see a 3 hurting anyone.

If you had a 3.8 as a junior and then you got a 3.0 for your senior year then overall it should be around a 3.4 which is still good. I would call the admissions office and ask but dont be specific with your name. Just ask "hey if I was already accepted and my GPA dropped from a 3.8 to 3.4 would my accpetance be revoked?" if they ask for your name, just say that you would rather not. if that person doesnt want to answer, call the next day and hopefully you get someone else. I say do it this way because you dont want to draw attention to yourself, just incase they would have normally over-looked it :-)

In all honesty I cant see them dropping anyone that is 3.0 and over.

It's a possibility unfortunately. It's unlikely that one bad grade will get it revoked, but it's possible. I'd say you don't need to worry if it's a C, but a D might be an issue. A bad midterm won't bring you down that much, but I don't know how your school does it. My sister got a D-- almost failed AP bio and still got into UIC, but UIC is much less competitive than Michigan, so there's a chance it could ruin it for you. I'd say you'll probably be fine.

Chances are you won't be in trouble unless your grade drops below a 3.0, but it depends on what the grades are that have gotten you in trouble. If it's mostly Bs and one or two Cs, you'll probably be okay. Ds or Fs, and you might be looking at academic probation.

3.0 from one year accumulating with your 3 years of 3.85 will be like a 3.4-3.5. They won't drop you, for this I am sure.

Build it back up to a 3.2 or 3.3.
