Am I out of line for scolding people who write questions that are long, meandering, contain no punctuation, and are entirely composed of text-message shorthand? Are some young people honestly not capable of writing with any kind of grammar or punctuation?

These people claim to be married, kids etc.... therefore, I must presume they are not 14. Is this crap for real?

LOL!

I am with "Happy2" I almost skipped it too until I saw that it was "Nice Lady".....hahahaha....

I think a lot of young people that ARE old enough to be married are so used to using texting abbreviations....I myself do not text, and I write in complete sentences (whether those sentences make sense or not is another story!)

Footnote-

Nice Lady, I got your note about the foursome.....my face went red this morning over that one!!! LOL!!!!

I used to scold people but I stopped, seeing that doing so proved ineffective. When I first read your question, I almost did what I've been doing lately -- skip right past it. But then I saw it was by Nice Lady, and I thought, what??? I like reading your questions and answers because you are bright and articulate. Sure enough, when I clicked on it, here you are asking about something that's been bugging me too.

I don't mind a little spelling or grammar trouble, but the text message shorthand crap bugs me quite a bit. The ones that really make me wonder, though, are the ones that are very badly written that start, "ima sr in collej, n i wuz wonderin" etc. If the college students can't even write, it really makes me fear for the youth of today.

I agree with you. We have a whole generation of people that will try to speak and write with internet terminology. I would hate to be an English teacher in this day and age, because you have so much to battle against. I know they try to do it to look cool and to save "time" but how much longer does it truly take to type something out correctly?

Usually you can test about the time your period would arrive, but most tests can't actually detect the pregnancy hormone until after that at about 5-6 weeks. First response is supposed to be able to detect it sooner, but is more expensive.

questions written in such a way give me a headache to try and read, so most times now, i don't even bother. I might not capitalize, or use correct spelling and grammar all the time, but at least i try!

I hear you. I only opened this question to see if it made anymore sense. I assume that the ones that are writing their question when they are upset are just rambling. I also have thought that English was not their first language.
