Yes, it can be a religious thing, but it doesn't have to be.

Fellowship refers to people being together and talking.

A table can be representative of a meal with others.

So, in essence, this is talking about being with and talking to others over a meal.

as a religious thing it specifically means sharing communion or the Lord's supper, however that is understood. It is more Protestant language than Catholic or Orthodox. In churches with 'closed communion' only those who are full members of that church can receive communion, or share 'table fellowship' and it becomes a symbolic way of talking about the bonds of friendship they have as full members of the church.
