It all depends on who you ask.
If you're a creationist, the chicken would have to have come first. In the bible the animals were created first and multiplied from there.
If you're a darwinist then the chicken's predecessors would have evolved from prehistoric birds and somewhere down the line after all the evolution, the first chicken, as we know it, would have to have come from an egg.

I would say the chicken, it probably evolved from something already alive and then laid an egg.

for dinosaurs laid eggs and chickens werent around at that time
