I'm trying to figure out what is the best option to save gas in the car.

I've heard that driving with the A/C on burns 15% of used gas. But does this apply to just the fan running?

The compressor pulls power from the engine thus mileage. It operates during AC and defrost, I use my vent mostly to optimize mileage. The fan dosnt have much bearing on fuel consumption>

Yes. The fans opporate on battery power, the A/C compressor uses the rotation of the engine for power. Only A/C should affect your gas milage.

Yes, having the compressor running does decrease your gas mileage. I have a 97 Blazer that gets around 21mpg usually, but that drops to at least 18mpg just by running the a/c.

yes, when you condition the air the engine has to run the compressor along with the fan.
