I had the same problem with my builder. First floor went down and looked like a 3 year old did it. He then had me pick out a new floor (of his 4 choices) then installed it, which failed in 3 months. Finally my wife and I pulled up the flooring ourselves and tiled it (DIY).

Best advise is to find a flooring distributor (Not a home store) that has a showroom. Have them explain all the different kinds of flooring available and how they are installed. They might also point you to a few videos and books. A few flooring distributors I visited actually lent me videos to watch.

Good Luck!

OK.. First of all if the floors were installed correctly and they are of good quality wood but the finish is junk (which in most cases is caused by the builder trying to get things done quick) then your in pretty good shape. there are a lot of hard wood flooring company's that will sand and refinish the floor for a reasonable fee. Having done this myself, if you don't have the patients handling the sander can be a beating of sorts. Check some of the Hardwood flooring manufactures web sites for refinishing info.. I would get a quot to have someone come in and do it for you. It would be faster and they get to clean up the mess and believe me there will be a mess... Good Luck...! check out Bruce hardwood floors by Anderson flooring.

You don't give much info to go on...
You don't say what's wrong with them, if they are hardwood, laminate, tile, linoleum or anything at all.

You say it's done wrong, and you're getting them redone. Are you doing them yourself?

It's like saying my car is broken. How do I fix it?
