I'm a pharmacy technician and i want to become a pharmacists. Some people have told me that online courses are a good idea. Is it as good as live college courses?

It would first depend on what school you are taking the courses for. I would much rather take courses from accredited universities or colleges than those seen on television commercials.

I have taken online courses for some of my general education requirements and they do not seem much different in terms of what you need to learn and do to earn a good grade. I would recommend online courses only if you feel comfortable with the material, are able to teach yourself for most of the course, can pass with little to no help, are able to stay on task and meet deadlines, and are able to work properly with a computer and troubleshoot problems if they should come up.

I would recommend you take an online course for a class you do not really need, or is not so focused on your major (general ed. classes). By doing this, you will already have a feel for what is required to be successful in an online course.

I have taken both and it all depends on the class. You have to very disciplined to do well. I'm assuming that your university is offering both choices so as long as you dont feel the need for other student interaction or prefer a live professor who gets to know you personally they would be fine. If you are not already in a university pharmacy program, make sure that the online school is accredited and that the course hours will transfer or you will be wasting your time and money.

Some pharmacy schools do not accept online courses at all. No science course can be taught online.

I Volunteer at a hospital, and I've heard from many people (Nurses, pharmacists, Nurse practitioners, etc.) that towards the end, they did all their classes on line at it was great for them.
