No, he clearly stated that he is not running because he wants to continue to focus on global warming. That focus got him a Nobel Prize and until the environment is clean and we begin to pay attention to what mankind is doing to our world he will continue with what he is doing. Someone has to be a leader and he happened to take the lead on this issue. Most scientists and even most politicians, including President Bush, believe that some of the problem with global warming is caused by human activity. The amount of affect may differ from person to person but they all tend to agree that humans have had something to do with it and that we must reverse what we have done before it becomes irreversable.

I think he's not running for president because he can do more for the issue he obviously cares about if he doesn't. If he became a candidate then he, not the issue, would become the focus.
The people above who are somehow able to read his mind ("He's doing it for the money!", "He doesn't really believe all this global warming stuff!", etc.) are impressive. Please - let me know what my thoughts on your grasp of logic are...

No... it is probably because he is now most identifiable with the environment. I doubt that a former VP would be afraid of debating. That is just stupid. He just could not be elected if people percieve him as hving one issue.

He's been debating global warming since the left the White House, so he's definitely not avoiding it. Face it, it's his forte and no one can argue against him.

No he's not running, because he would have to severe ties with his environmental groups.
Same reason Newt Gingrich isn't running.
