The only medically approved use of HGH is in cases where the person doesn't produce enough growth hormone naturally. There are conflicting studies regarding any sort of athletic benefits from HGH, although the potential harmful side effects are well documented.

Also, you need a prescription to get it legally in the US.

Based on those two items, chances are that any player taking HGH has gotten it illegally, or from a doctor who doesn't know what they're doing. THAT's what is wrong.

When HGH is taken by a medical physicial for treatment to an injury, it is well within guidelines. It is when players get it and use it for the sole reason of increasing their performance, not injuries, that what makes it so wrong. HGH is a prescribed medication and most of the pro athletes that use it, not only baseball players, are doing so outside the proper guidelines.

When taken in conjunction with steroids it can build muscle mass very quickly and give the player a competitive edge. Just as a side note, HGH can also help to grow hair, lower blood pressure and cholesterol, and improve your sex life. Maybe all the rest of us should look into this wonder drug as well.

It's okay for a player to take steroids for recovery from an injury. Only if his doctor prescribes it, then it should be fine for them to take it in. Same goes for ballplayers that have asthma because those inhalers have steroids to reduce inflammation in the lungs.

HGH will not help you recover from injury. It just builds muscle tissue and mass.

It's condidered an unfair advantage to players who take it becauase it is detrimental to your health and will produce results that are not natural. It is also unfair to players who won't take it because of the long term health it affects.

If you need to use it to recover from an injury it's ok. But as soon as you have recovered you must stop.
