First, it is hard to rule out precognition because of a fact not often appreciated by non-believers. It is impossible to prove a negative statement. All you can say is, "Nobody I know has this ability." You CANNOT say "Nobody has this ability" unless you know everyone. PERIOD.

Second, your dad might have recognized questionable behavior and made a prediction based on extrapolation rather than precognition. I had a friend who was doing drugs. He got off the hard stuff because he was lucky enough to meet a nice lady who tried to clean him up. But he wouldn't give up some of his chemicals. I told him, "One of these days your heart is going to give out if you don't give up all of that stuff NOW and take better care of yourself." Sure enough, he didn't give up his drugs, didn't take better care of himself, and did die - of heart failure. But was that precognitive or just seeing the inevitable as a projection of behavior?

There is a difference between superstitious and precognitive. He may very well be able to tell the future. Some people do have that gift and it's nothing to get worked up over.
