Two questions really, no need to waste points, first, does anyone know what kind of "hair style" the doctors and nurses prefer for D Day? What kind did you have? How did you feel about it? If you were less than bushy,... how did you reach it to do it? I can barely reach it to wipe after I pee! and Also, I think I would like to try squatting as a labor and delivery position,... does any one have any experience with this? Does anyone have a picture or drawing of it,... sounds stupid, but I want to see what I am supposed to do, to make sure I am doing it right, and effectively. I have a book with some drawings of different positions for D Day, but not of this one. Thanks in advance guys.

The doctor does not care about your "hair style" They don't even shave you anymore. Back in the day I was born, you were shaved from pits to knees, now they couldn't care less,
Squatting as a labor position makes since, gravity helping and all.
Below are two web sites I found that may help you, they have some pictures.

Well I don't think the doctors care. Some do encourage you to shave though. I have been shaving that area 100 % bare for around 7 years. It would be strange for me to have hair there lol...I continue to shave the best I can. Once I cannot reach anymore I may get it waxed or make fiance do it lol. I don't have any experience with the squatting position but do know many women have used it.

Well I'm not up on all of the different positions as I've only watched and experianced the "legs in stirrups" position. As for hair styles, the doctors don't really care. They are going to be more focused on watching the baby come out and not how well you've taken car of your pubic hair. Hopefully no one should be filming or taking pictures of it down there so you shouldn't have to worry about impressing everyone. If you want to shave it, it is your choice, but remember that if you nick yourself down there you are going to be more prone to infection. As for reaching, well you could always get someone to help you, or you could just feel around to make sure you've gotten everything! Good luck and congrats!

I can tell you right now I'm not going to care if I look like a gorilla or a shiny bald head down there when I'm in labor. I figure my doctor has seen every kind of "hair style" in the world and is probably more worried about the head of my baby than the state of my grooming.

If you are talking your "short and curlies" its up to you. They no longer shave you before delivery. I had a wax about a month prior to my giving birth so that I didn't have to worry about it.
Labor positioning depends on the hospital and whether or not you have an epidural. If youhave an epidural, most hospitals will make you remain on your back or side. You are unable to walk or have major control over your lower half.
If you go "natural" you have more options for squatting, using a birthing-ball or stool, etc.

Dr's don't care what kind of style you have.
For squating, the Dr and nurse put a bar on your bed that you will pull yourself up with and then you will stay in that position and push when they tell you.
Really it is only personal taste as to how you want your hair, usually that is the last thing most girls have to worry about.

The doctors don't care what hair style you have. They've seen everything. Natural isn't a bad thing.
I didn't squat, sorry. I was happy to lean over the back of a raised-up bed. It was a great position as it gave me flexibility and helped gravity at the same time. I shouldn't say I was happy-- I don't think I was, at the time!!!

The docs don't care. Your "hairstyle" doesn't block their view of anything, pregnant or not.
Squatting is supposed to be easier on the mother, letting gravity do it's work. Are you in a class or do you have a coach? This is something you should go over with them and your doctor.

i just had my hair in a pony tail...i dont think the doc prefers it to be any way, just as long as it is outta the way! and as far as delivery goes, if you are going to a regular hospital they generally put women in the same position lying on their back with your legs up to your chest. if you are looking for alternate birthing styles, you would probably have to go with a midwife or some kind of alternate clinic or something...

as for the hair style, i don't think the doctors would have a preference, that subject never came up when i had my daughters a few years ago. i just kept mine trimmed short as a personal perference, and i had my partner help me keep up with that once i wasn't able to do it for myself. not sure about the labor positions, i had to stay laying down in bed for mine. good luck!
