Well my ignition is broke on my 1977 chevy c20 truck, so i have to use a screwdriver to push the metal rod in the steering column to start it.
I was wondering if itd be easier to install a remote starter kit, or a toggle switch and push button to start it.
And whichever you think i should get can i get a link to a cheap, decent one, and instructions on how to do it?
i was thinking just turn the metal rod to the on position and then use the toggle switch to turn on and off the battery power?
help me out please. thanks

Being that your truck is carburated, a remote starter may not work on it. Especailly if you have to pump th gas to get it going.

You'd have to wire it up so the ignition circuit could be switched on or off and the starting circuit could just be a pushbutton switch. I've done them on race cars where I bypassed the ignition switch like that....trick is to figure out which wires you need to bypass on the original switch. Use heavy duty switches too that are rated for the amps you may be using....most parts stores will carry a variety of switches for different applications that you can use or modify to get what you want.
A remote start may not work because you have to turn the ignition on once you get in the vehicle but it could be wired up somehow I guess.

A push button would be fine as long as you hide a kill switch to kill the power to the distributor. Its easy enough to hot wire the stock set up, but put a push button is just asking for it to get stolen.

Probably cant on a carb. vehicle. Got to be in it to pump the pedal, or hold it to floor to un-flood it. What exactly broke on the ignition? ..i had them break on both my 77 and 87 and they were a relatively cheap (20 bucks maybe) and easy fix.
