I do know one and I am sorry that she is. I think the biggest problem is that everybody is so fixated on race, religion, or lifestyle that they can't see that it doesn't matter what they are. They need help.

I know people who are homeless and I think homelessness in Los Angeles is a major issue, with at least 300,000 on the street. Many more live or sleep in cars and so on. The problem is rooted here in several issues. One is that people from all over the country come here to make it in Hollywood without resources, and people come homeless here because the weather is warmer than most places in the winter. Secondly the cost of living here for housing now BEATS NEW YORK CITY. Overall it is one of the most expensive places in the US to live, and housing is astronomical. This means that a lot of people who are on disability and have no family to live with are homeless. Last but not least, the social services are overwhelmed, and this is tied in with ILLEGAL IMMIGRATION. They say one person in twelve here is illegal. I'm all for legal immigration, but illegals don't just get welfare and other benefits of being a citizen without being citizens, they also bring down what employers will pay since many work for cash or low wages, and they BREAK THE UNIONS by doing so. Today ORANGES were $1.50 a pound at Ralph's, a major supermarket chain here. WHO CAN AFFORD THAT? The bus driver told me it is because the INS is cracking down and the crops are not being picked. Well, there always has been a policy of looking the other way when it comes to who picks our crops, and I think those who do break their backs and deserve decent wages. But when it comes right down to it, this Christmas you will not see any person of privledge like a CEO take a pay cut or give most of his overblown salary to the poor - unless its for a tax deduction. Come visit me at Madam Cece's Salon, where the personal is political and love is the heart of the matter!

no we won't be homeless this season, and friend I am truly sorry that you are still with out a place to call home. Its a shame that people put a tag on every thing .It seems like some of these organizations say they will help any one ,but when it comes down to it they can't help a lot of people because they are the wrong religion , color,or sexual preference is not to their liking. Aw hech just because some one is a little colorful they get pushed aside. its not to fair out there.

i'm not homeless, but this has been a very stressful year.
health problems and changes in finances have made it difficult. i know that even with the problems that we have there are others who have it worse.
i still put money in the salvation army kettle, and i try to help when i can.
as someone else pointed out it is very easy to lose your home, and this country doesn't take this problem seriously enough.
goddess hold you.

I know someone who is homeless. I wish with all my heart she was closer to my town so she could find respit and help at Camp Hope. It is off to a slow start but it is working well for those who want off the streets and don't know where to start.

At any one time, there are 3.5 million folks in our nation in a homeless state. Personally, I feel it is a disgrace in one of the world's richest nations.
