I dislike flourescent light as well. It works well in some places though. And it is energy efficient, so it saves you money.
The problem is though that the day that someone tells me that I have to use a particular kind of bulb or drive a particular kind of car will be a very cold day.

They are toxic too. I am so sure the majority of people are going to dispose fo them properly. This is not thought out like most of the corporate decisions our lawmakers jump into. However, the makers of these bulbs will reap great rewards at the expense of our environment and public health.
We had one office in our building that used flourecent bulbs and they also had the most people calling in sick and leaving early with headaches and other illnesses. When the bulbs were replaced from a class action law suit threat from the employees the illnesses stopped within a few months.

Get the real ones at Dr. Leonard's they have light so bright in your lamps and use 15 watts on a 75 light output and they are last forever . You can see twice as good , I have all my lamps with these light even before Global Warming was thought of, I love them because you. can see so much better. Those you get all Wal mart that go around around and around are no good their to low. Get the good ones I bet you'll really like them.

i swtched to them in my house a few years ago
saved electricity plus they have a purer light that really brings out the colors better in youre house
just remember though, they are alot brighter than the old bulbs and a 15 watt bulb is way brighter than the old 60 watt'r that it will be replacing
if you try the ones rated at 75 or 100 watts they will be too bright and might give you headaches

Yeah, isn't this idiotic. Fluorescent bulbs contain *mercury*, which is probably just as harmful (or more hamful) a pollutant as "wasting" a bit of energy with an extra-watt incandescent bulb. I don't really get it.
And I almost guarantee people are going to be throwing their fluorescent lights in the trash, which you aren't supposed to do because they're supposed to be disposed of specially.

Yes, I hate working or going to school in an environment where I have to be under fluorescent lights all day. I think they depress me. I like incandescent light much better, sunlight best.

try the soft light ones, or bump up to the 100 watt CFLs, wear sun glasses, and have a year-round tan!

You've got a few year so stock up on regular bulbs. They aren't going to be phased out until 2014.

Yes. It affects my eyes and brain, as well. I find it best when I can open blinds and let the sunlight compete.
And I really hate these kinds of laws. More government in our business.
