my mom took the citizenship test and the person said she passed. but there was a problem. the folder did not have her information. it contained someone else's documents but the numbers were very similar. only 1 digit off. they said they will try to find the folder and they will let us know. its been half a year and still no word. we've called numerous times but they said we will be notified when they have something. its taking too long. does anyone know what the problem is? isnt this goverment stuff and arent they suppose to AVOID problems like this?? we're really worried cause its been so long and we paid a lot for her to take the test.

The squeeky wheel gets the grease.

Call your contact, and ask for the supervisor's name & address. The write.

Write the Secretary of Homeland Security.

Write the ICE Administrator.

Write your Congressman and both Senators. Visit your local Congressman's office and speak directly to a staff member.

Send all mail certified, return receipt requested. Follow up with more phone calls and letters.

Send letters to your local largest daily paper, and hope they are printed.

Stop dealing with people that haven't or can't help you. You have to deal with the people that can cut through red tape.

"isnt this goverment stuff and arent they suppose to AVOID problems like this??"

LOL!

They are government employees. Civil Servants who have absolutely no incentive whatsoever to put one ounce more effort into anything than they have to.

When you deal with a government agency, you should EXPECT them to mess up.

Six months, for the INS, is nothing. They have some people floating in limbo for years.

You must have studied for the Disney version of the US :)

I think the idea to contact your local Senators and House of Representative officials is a good one.

They maintain staff to handle constituent issues like this. I think they will notice the importance and urgency of your plea.

INS has so much mistakes they don't have time
to straighten them out.they have stacks and stacks
of paper work that hasn't been touched.IT STARTED when the government decided to put files on computer disk.IDEA GOOD But with no
trained computer people.and cut in staff.now they have triple the work.
Contact your state rep. or Congress man.

Government and problem are synonyms...I'd suggest contacting your local member of Congress or one of your Senators and ask them to check/look into it for you...You'll get better results than trying to deal with the INS yourself. PEACE!
