If you want to change to the other sex, the first thing you should do is spend some time dressed as the opposite sex. Get a couple of girls to dress you up in their clothes & give you a complete makeover from head to toe & let you spend a weekend dressed as a girl & then see if you still want to be a girl at the end of the weekend. If you still want to change your sex after those 3 days, then see a counselor & ask the girls that helped you if they have any old clothes that you can have & then you'll need to go shopping & get yourself a whole new wardrobe, plus there are plenty of websites to help you out, I put some links below:

The first person you should talk to is your family doctor. Explain to him or her that you think you may be transsexual, and ask to be referred to a psychiatrist. This is a necessary step, to ensure that you aren't suffering from any mental illness or disorder that might make you believe you're transsexual; once that is established, you can be referred to a gender specialist.
In the meanwhile, join a transsexual support group - online, if you prefer (avoid LGB support groups at first, unless you're sure that you ARE lesbian/gay; although they may be well-intentioned, they're not really much help to a straight transperson). And of course, there are several transpeople on this forum (including me) that will answer your questions and concerns by email.

I think it starts with a psychiatrist... they have to determine that the surgery is the only way you'll ever feel "normal"... for obvious reasons... they have to make sure that this decision is right for you....you can't glue it back on if you change your mind later....

Very, very open minded people. I'm not that open minded but good luck either way. Probably a doctor or someone who specializes in that sort of surgery would be your best bet.

There are a couple of organisations who might be able to help - PFLAG and Stonewall.
If you feel that you have a gender identity issue then your doctor is a good place to start. He/she will be able to help you in terms of counselling and next steps.

yes.......lots and lots of people you can talk to.
Start by joining a transsexual chat group on yahoo and asking for a reference to a decent gender therapist in your area. If you need to, you can email me privately.

Find a therapist who specializes in transgender issues. You can call the gay and lesbian community center in your area to get the name of a referral.
