Has there ever been a released version of the 1946 classic Christmas movie 'It's a Wonderful Life' released in widescreen? I've seen several versions that are full-screen.

Its A Wonderful Life Was Made BEFORE 'Wide Screen' (70mm) Existed, IF They Made It WIDE SCREEN They Would Have To 'Crop' The Top And Bottom Of The Picture To Make It The Correct Aspect Ratio - I Don't think That Would Work Very Well.

They did not have widescreen in 1946. Widescreen came about in 1953-54 in was called cinemascope and it was a response to the popularity of television. The movie industry felt they had to give people more in theatres than they could get watching movies on TV at home. Up until that time movies were in the boxy 4:3 ratio. There were or are nine different screen ratios. Movies like Ben Hur were filmed in panorama which was a really widescreen of almost three times as wide as it was tall. Most common widescreen ratio is 2.35 to 1.

No, the film was made before widescreen became the standard. Typically, before the fifties movies were shot in the 1.33 ratio, which is the same as a standard TV.

It was only after movie theaters were losing business to TV that studios started using widescreen processes to lure people back to the theater.
