So why buy an ugly house in California, $400,000
when you can get a mansion like house in Mississippi?
I don't want to hear any stupid lame excuses...
1. Florida, Arizona, and other states in south have nice warm weather.
2. South Carolina, North Carolina, Florida have the best beaches.
3. There are many jobs everywhere and lot of opportunies.
4. And yes the South got beautiful hot women.
So...
Why live in California?
California got the highest foreclosures in USA!!!
Why live there?

People in Mississippi make about half that of California, but the same house in Mississippi will cost you about a quarter to an eighth of the price of that in California. And actually people are flocking to Mississippi right now. We have had more economic development in the past 5 years, especially in the Jackson suburbs, than we have ever had in our history. This also translates into higher home prices. A three bedroom, two bath house ten years ago in the suburb of Pearl would cost around $50,000. Today, that same home is selling for $125-150,000. However, that same home in San Francisco would cost you $400,000 to $700,000 or more. Jackson, Mississippi has all the amenities of big cities with a smaller city feel, including a new Telcom Center, rivaled only by Austin, TX and MIT. So, to answer your question, I'm not sure why people would choose California over Mississippi, other than the fact that they only see what's on television. The fact is that they only see what Hollywood shows them about Mississippi. They think we still have Klan meetings after church every Sunday. Most people who talk about Mississippi have never been and are ignorant for continuing to talk about something they know nothing about. They wouldn't like me classifying all Californians a hippy liberals who smoke pot every chance they get, would they? Anyways, I love Mississippi: better transit system, nicer people, and cheaper living. (Gas prices $2.71 down here by the way)

Why buy Louis Vuitton when a Mudd bag is just as cute and is 1/20 the price? Why get Chanel when there's always Liz Claiborne?
California's like a brand. When you say you live in California, people are like, "Has there been any surf contests over there lately? Are the celebrity swarms bad?" But if you tell them you live in Mississippi, they're like, "Has there been any lynchings down there lately? Are the mosquito swarms bad?" It's all in the name.

I don’t follow…I know that my company has different pay scales for different markets. Doing the same job, I would not make the same salary in MS & CA.
Demand is also a huge part of price. Cities with higher population growth see larger increases in property values. There may be jobs everywhere, but that doesn’t mean that all cities equally attract new residents. Some cities see slow, steady growth and those cities aren’t suffering as much right now. Cities that have had population booms are now experiencing a correction. Think tortoise & hare.

Many more people want to live in California than Mississippi for a variety or reasons. That is why homes are so much more expensive in California than Mississippi.
If you want to get the most house for your money, buy one in a place few people want to live.

Simply put, it's about location, location, location. If the market sees there is high demand for an area, they will price it accordingly and the people will come. Once the prices of the homes and property go up, they don't come down or at least very little to make a difference.

People in California have better grammer - for instance, they say "have" instead of "got".
