I've had some problems during my pregnancy - with a minor placental abruption at 12 weeks, and constant spotting and bleeding all through-out. I started PAINFUL braxton hicks at 16 weeks, and was put on PROCARDIA to control them - and my cervix has been checked every week since I was 24 weeks pregnant. I am 50% effaced as of now, and still am spotting for no reason. I am in constant unbelievable pain and on bed-rest. My OBGYN suggested to do a C-SECTION (I did not want a vaginal delievery regardless if i went to 40 weeks or not) I am just scared about my baby's condition at 36 weeks and 4 days. I know 37 is considered full term, but still....my doctor thinks its in my best interest. We've done a non-stress test, and it was perfect. My doctors words "A very healthy baby"...I just dont want him to end up in the NICU, - which means he'll have to be transferred to a different hospital than where I will be. We're doing a final ultrasound to check his size tomorrow. HELP! I AM GOING CRAZY!!

Your doctor knows best and I would trust their judgement, but if the main reason you are considering it is for pain and no other obvious reason it's entirely up to you to decide if you feel you can stick it out for another few days or not. You're the best judge of how uncomfortable you are.
At my hospital 36+ week babies are almost always in the regular newborn nursery and it is very rare they would need to go to a Level II (special care) or NICU. So don't stress over it too much. 36 and 4 days is really darn close to 37.
Good luck whatever you decide.

I would wait until your scan at 36 weeks.
Personally I really dont think anything before 37 is a good idea, even late scans can be off by a pound, and thats a HUGE difference between going home the next day, or staying a week in NCIU.
Tell your doctor you're just not comfortable with a section at 36 weeks, and that you want to push it back a week. Unless there is a life or death situation they have to do what you ask.

Please listen to yourself. There are obviously things that worry you and I think you worry for a good reason. Unfortunately women need to take the issue of pregnancy and birth into their own hands and chose the right birth/pregnancy team to get taken care of the way they should. This might just be the first lesson in parenting. Put your foot down and tell the consultant/obgyn to either explain why there is less movement (could easily be less space for a growing body) and also explain the heart issue. Have you been sent to a more detailed scan to check out the heart. If not then ask why not. And insurance coverage is no good reason. So, Mama, get the service you and your son deserve!

i had a son during normal labor no issues during the pregnancy and he still was in the NICU if your dr thinks its for the best id go with that, the NICU isnt bad persay its just a bit scary for a new mom, but the babies there get LOTS of attention and care so its a very safe place if there are issues once the baby is born, c-section or naturally.... good luck!!!:)

I had my daughter at 36 weeks via emergency c-section. I could have waited, but under the circumstances (I was very uncomfortable) we did it then. Our daughter was born 7 pounds and we were all home within 3 days. If you trust your doctor- do it. If no you should see what another doctor says. But you should definitely wait until your final ultrasound.

I had my baby at 36 weeks. He was perfectly healthy and didn't need to go anywhere near the NICU. He needed a little extra help maintaining his body temperature, but that's it.
My friend and my sister both had their babies at 35 weeks and those babies were also healthy.
It seems like you should be fine. Good luck.

I would trust my Dr. if I was you. Especially since you are in so much pain. I truly believe that he will be fine if delivered then. It is almost full term, so I doubt any problems will come up. I had my daughter at 38 weeks due to my complications (blood clot earlier on in the pregnancy) but I was not in pain so my delivery was delayed until 38 weeks.

If your doctor thinks that it is in your best inrest, I would listen to them. Maybe just schedule the c-section for right after 37wks if that will make you feel better!
Good luck and congrats!

If your doctor thinks its the best thing to do then I would definitely stick by his decision. After all, they are the ones who went to medical school therefore, they would know best.

why can't they wait 3 more days? your baby should be fine on the ultrasound they will be able to tell if the baby thrive well. which i'm sure it will. i'd go ahead and get it. your dr wouldn't tell you to get one unless he felt it would be safe for both you and the baby cuz you could sue his *** off!
