I have a light-switch to an outdoor light that has not worked, so I checked the voltage on the switch and I am only getting 60 volts instead of 120, any ideas what is wrong and how to repair?

What are you measuring against? You need to be sure the other lead of your meter is on a good neutral or ground.

Then, are you measuring line or load side of your switch?

I cannot imagine what would cause you to get a real value of 60v, especially if everything else is working on that circuit.

How are you measuring the voltage? Light on or off? Switch to neutral? Measure the voltage in the lamp socket after removing the bulb with the switch on. Forget the breaker, those are silly answers.

Sound like you got two lights hooked up in series! 60 volts and 60 volts is 120 volts.

Hey, it's a guess!

check connections on both ends.
at the light and the switch.
if both of these are good then worry about your breaker.
replace breaker,
if this doesn't fix prbloem could be a short, re-wire it.

Definitely sounds like a circuit breaker or a bad connection.

find the breaker that it goes to, check the wire going to it, is it loose / may be a bad breaker,
