The U. S. doesn't like it when a country particularly in the Americas doesn't fall into lockstep with them. It may be a question of "their" dictator or "our" dictator. They go on about Castro being a Communist tyrant however they didn't mind when Batista the previous dictator ruled with an iron, ruthless fist. The U. S. fears Communism so very much, look what happened in Viet Namn, except of course when it benefits the American economy i.e. trade with Communist China. There is the embargo, see the link below and a strong anti-Castro movement by south Florida Cubans who fled the island and have the misconception that when Castro dies they can return and recoup the property they and their families once owned. They might ask themselves what they and their ruling class ever did for the poor Cuban when their families had some clout. Many of those Cubans were also the rapists, murderers and thieves or their descendents that Castro freed during the Mariel Boat lift. See that link also below.

I personally believe the "They are Communism / Socialist" is just a front or tired rhetoric..... I mean China was in the same thing... And the USA opened itself WAY----- open to them... Saudi Arabia isn't democratic and they are also one of the current administration's best friends too.
The USA I think is really pissed off because Cuba nationalised items in that country, that were paid for by US companies, and the Cuban government never formally paid the US companies for what they took over..... Pakistan likewise trades with the USA so there's no issue with them having a spotty record on democracy... Heck Musharaff came to power by a coup himself....
Again, China was not fully democratic but there too the US runs a huge--- trade imbalance with them and all. Touch the USA's money and that's what gets you in hot water... I'm telling you it is all about the money.

The United States has had a shaky relationship with Cuba for some time, mostly because Cuba has a socialist/communist government that the U.S. doesn't agree with. As a result, if you are coming back into the States, and your passport shows that you've been to Cuba, you can get in trouble.

US citizens may not travel to Cuba due to the embargo against Cuba. The only exception is with a license of the US Treasury Department.

Because the government doesn't like Castro.
Actually, Americans with Cuban relatives can visit, & the government regularly allows small groups to go for cultural, scientific, relief, & medical missions. I think no other airport but Miami has commercial flights, & those are strictly regulated.

Technically ist not...you basically are traveling at your own risk. There is no US Embassy if something happens to you while you are there so you'd have to ask the Swiss to be nice and help you out. If you have relatives there...such as immediate family you can get permission from the US to go. There are other exceptions as well.

Because the US doesn't like it when their pet dictator gets thrown by someone who doesn't do their bidding.
Or because the Diaz Balart family still haven't forgiven Castro for divorcing their aunt.
