It's HP 1210 printer
The same ink cartridge has been in it for almost a year and it has been printing fine- now all of a sudden it comes up with a message saying "your ink cartridge is the incorrect model for this printer" and it's flashing error saying "check ink cartridge"
I've tried unplugging it, and plugging it back in, as well as restarting my computer. It still won't do anything
Any advice?? Thanks!

Each cartridge has an IC inside that's accessed by the printer. It's accessed by the tiny copper pads on the back of the cartridge. Use a Q-Tip soaked in alcohol to gently clean the contacts and the pins on the printer where the cartridge is inserted. I expect it's time for a new cartridge. If this does not help, contact HP.

Could be that the little gold contacts on the bottom of the print cartridge have lost their integrity. Clean with an alcohol swab and if unsuccessful, change to a new cartridge 'cuz that's very old for any cartridge.

Is it possible that it has simply run out of ink ?
Try popping the ink cartridge out, giving it a little shake and putting it back in again.

You probably need a new cartridge. A year sounds like you got a good run out of it! Make sure you go into the menu before you replace it and run the "Clean Nozzles" command before you replace the cartridge.

Good Luck and Happy Holidays!

well having it for a year without changing cartridge, you probably just need to get a new cartridge, unplugging it and plugging it back up is not going to help

well the electronics on the cartridge do break down and fail overtime which is most likely what happened. You need to replace the cartridge.
