Because he is no Conservative. He is a NeoCon. NeoCons are big spending, pro-war, pro police state individuals.

Conservatives are for limited government, war only when we are attacked, and then only when it is a Declared war, and we want government out of our personal lives.

There is no comparison between Conservatives and NeoCons.

First of all Conservatives DON'T say it doesn't exist, they just don't put a big importance on it as they feel there are more pressing issues then Mother Nature to deal with 1st. Like getting the federal government out of the every day happenings and putting that back into the hands of state legislation as the Constitution outlines clearly.

Bush is a neocon...which is what the conservative ideology is becoming.
If conservatives do not realize it, they better open their eyes.

If you don't know what a neocon is, they pretty much denounce anythign liberal as socialism, adhere pretty much to all traditional conservative ideologies other than small government. They are big government cons, and their whole goal is to change conservative ideology to beign "big government". that comes from the quote from an interview with Irving Kristol!

Even then though, maybe Bush has wisened up on one issue and realized that the same problems that need to be solved to prevent global warming are the same problems that need to be solved to slow pollution and prevent collapse of the world's environment, even if global warming doesn't exist, so it doesn't hurt to humor the alarmists.

Bush is not a conservative.

Also, he's not the Pope -- meaning he is fallible. He was wrong about immigration. Why can't he be wrong about Global Warming?

That being said, Conservatives don't maintain that there is no such thing as Global Warming. We know it's happening -- it's an undeniable scientific fact. What we don't accept is the "scientific consensus" that Global Warming is man made and a problem. It may just be nature taking it's course.

If you really understood this issue you would realize that ethanol made from corn, as it is done in the US, is not an environmentally sound option. It takes more energy to produce it than it yields. That makes ethanol detrimental to the environment. The widespread use of ethanol does however lessen the need for foreign oil.

Making cars more fuel efficient also lessens the need for foreign oil.

You have mischaracterized the motives for signing this legislation. This is a typical tactic of the Global Warming movement.

I don't know of any conservative that says Global warming does not exist. What is in question is whether it has been affected by man, and to what extent if any.

It is responsible to take reasonable measures to reduce green house gases and pollutants regardless of Global warming. But we should not Panic and pass measures that make us feel good while harming the economy when we can't say for certain that anything we do will make a difference.

The Left is always accusing Bush of fear mongering and lying. What do you call what AL gore has done. when virtually every point made in his inconvenient truth has been proven to be either an outright lye or at least a huge hyperbole.

Conservatives are a little slow to catch on to things. They see the world in black and white, right or wrong, my way or the highway and thus find anything different hard to understand. Gray and color don't exist in their world. Since so many cons have already made up their minds about global warming and other things it is against the con rules to change one's mind, even with absolutely clear evidence. Once a con mind is made up it is in stone and nothing will ever change it.

Most resemble the South end of a North bound horse when it comes to their stubbornness and inability to change even in the face of overwhelming evidence to the contrary of their beliefs.

Global Warming is real, but there really isn't much that man can do to change it. Even if all countries signed on to the Kyoto Accords it wouldn't do much of anything.
I've started a 15 week blog concerning this issue on multiply.

I don't think raising fuel standards in 5 years that much of a fight. This is all lip service from a politician. I like the man, and can critisize him without calling him names, or slandering him.

Well, to repeat what's been said...
Bush isn't a conservative. Very few of the conservatives in office are conservatives.

Everyone side-stepped to the left. Republicans turned into democrats and democrats turned into socialists.
