Okay I am Jewish and happily particiapte in my jobs Christmas decoration contest - well not happily anymore. The people I work with put christmas lights around the table part of the desk with tape. I spend half the day retaping these stupid lights and pulling tape off myself. Any Ideas on how to get these stupid lights to stay put and leave me in peace?

First-I admire your team spirit (I hope they put out a Menorah for you). Second-this sounds like it could be taking place at the paper company in the Office-I can't help but laugh. Sorry.

Try the clear packing tape. If you use putty or other heavy tape be sure you test it someplace on the desk to make sure it won't damage the desk or pull off the faux-wood. I wouldn't suggest anything that will put holes in the desk (it is yours while there, but you don't own it so no damage). The other option is to lay the lights around the top of the desk using your little knick knacks (pencil holders etc) to keep them in place that will give a more free form look and might look nicer in the end than all that tape. Your co-workers owe you one for getting stuck putting the lights back up all the time:)

there is a kind of hook that will go onto a desk underneath and hold lights, I think they have it at Staples.
Recommend to your boss that everyone get them if they intend to decorate.
now, for MY question, how can you decorate for Hannukah, Dreidle decoration, a little bowl of Gelt?
or (drool) matzoh ball soup graphics!
(sorry, I just love a nice matzoh ball soup....and I'm not even Jewish)

ever hear of tacks (use them on the wood underneath where you can't see them), small nails then bend them over so they won't catch on your clothes. I find that filament tape works better than electrical tape, painters tape, scotch tape, or duct tape.

Poster putty or a product called "Patty tack". It's like a clay that you use to posters and pictures on the wall.
