...I used to....when I was receiving treatment for depression in the hospital, I read my journal to my therapist, who said, "How come there's only your regrets and failures written about...what about your successes ?"....now that was an eye opener...she then gave me homework to write down positive things about myself and nothing else....it was very hard to do this because I had trained myself to think negatively...it was a turning point in my recovery

Yes... don't know why that is. I haven't had many failures though... and much less successes.. but I often find myself thinking about all the negative things rather than the positive.

Yes, failures have a tendency to haunt you for life, whereas success is easily forgotten as we try to accomplish our next goal!!

Yes, mainly because I have more regrets and failures than any success at all...

It depends on the day. On good days, I feel really good about a lot of success I have had in life. But other days, (is it the moon?) all I can think of is everything I've screwed-up.

Nope. I am nothing but a failure so I have no success to compare it to

What successes could there be to remember?

That is the tendency and I keep wondering why I do that to myself. I think human beings are naturally hard on themselves.
It usually has one of two results, depending on my emotional level:
~>sometimes when those negative reminders keep nagging me on emotional low days, they demotivate me
~>but on emotional good days, they only serve as reminders to motivate me to keep going and keep improving

Still I think we should rather focus on our successes. It's just hard.

I tend to be so hard on myself when I fail that I fail in a worse way and that's by failing to remember that I've overcome a few obstacles in my life.
