I want to buy a built in wall oven. I am confused with the answers I have received so far. Gas, I have been told is cheaper than electric, but if electric ovens cook at 1/3 of the time that it takes to cook in a gas oven, then surely I must buy an electric oven as it would work out cheaper.

As previously stated, most built in ovens are electric.

For cook tops gas is much better in terms of controlling the temperature but for ovens there is very little advantage to gas. Electric works just fine. My wife refuses to use an electric cooktop but she loves her electric convection ovens.

Most people don't use an oven as much as their cook top so the cost of energy is really not a big deal. Electric with convection and self cleaning is the best choice unless you all ready have a gas oven and will have to run wiring for an electric.

As a matter of interest, when we put in the double ovens we also added a warming drawer. That is a great feature if you entertain a lot or have a large family. You can keep stuff warm so you don't have to have it all cooking at the same time. You can also put your plates in there and have them nice an warm.

Your choice of double oven is good but it all depends on your use to go for gas or electric. Gas ovens are good at cooking but electric is better for some daily use like warming the food and all .I will advice to go for electric.

What is your kitchen set up for? If it's gas, buy gas. If it's electric, buy electric. It's a big job to convert a kitchen from one to the other, and isn't worth doing.

If the kitchen is set up for both? (Uncommon, but possible.) You'll spend more to buy a gas unit, but gas is cheaper to run. Otherwise, either oven cooks equally well.

Do you mean an oven, or a range? A range includes both oven and cook-top in a single unit. Gas cook-tops respond more quickly when you turn the flame up or down, and are cheaper to operate. But electrics are more powerful, and will boil water faster (unless you buy a professional gas range, usually more than $2,000). Also, it's easier to hold electric burners at very low heat.

The question about whether you already have gas connections is pertinent. If you are alreasy set up for electric oven then buy a quality electric model. If you use you oven on a frequent basis especially for baking you will find that the temperature will remain more constant with an electric model. Gas for a range, electric for baking.

I also have a double oven for the 1st time, and that i found it very clever. One is smaller and additionally doubles simply by fact the grill, appropriate for small parts or issues like biscuits. examine measurements, i does no longer touch something smaller than 60cm extensive for the cooker and additionally attempt to get inner width of the oven, electric ones tend to be narrower on account which you like area for the climate. I additionally propose, that in case you bake lots, seem for fashions with glass oven doorways, so which you are going to locate what's happening without commencing the door and ruining the truffles.

I agree with Bert above gas is easier to calibrate and operates more economically. That being said, I don't have gas connections to where my double oven is in this home and had to go with electric. I purchased a convection oven which operates economically and efficiently because it bakes, roasts and broils in one third of the time that a conventional oven does.

Double gas wall ovens are VERY hard to come by. If you find one, read the details very carefully. Usually the top cavity is an oven and the bottom cavity is a broiler. I just went through this and was very very disappointed to learn the "Double Oven" I bought was actually an oven/broiler.

If you are speaking of wall ovens built into cabinetry, you will find very few gas wall ovens, and then ones that do exist are generally larger that typical cabinetry, so your existing cabinetry may not accommodate. Electric with convection is your best bet, even though newer convections may have electrical requirements that exceed you current wiring

Gas. No question. I have had both and much prefer the speed and control of a gas oven.
