Milk came in the big milk cans????? I would love to have one of those now!!!

Tina; I think you should have specified that the can you were referring to was the can that was picked up at the farm and then delivered to the dairy. I don't think that 99.999999% of the people on here had any idea what you were talking about! Sometimes you can find them at flea markets and once in a while at a garage sale!

Yes, I remember and I remember the glass jars with the paper tops! Those were the days, candy was cheap you could get a whole handful for a penny a big candy bar was a nickle a movie was only a dime. I loved those chocolate sodas that came in the machine! Catching fireflies playing hide and go seek! Grandma whisking her cake batter by hand and killing her chickens and plucking the feathers out while grandpa dug up fresh potatoes and picked fresh green beans and we would pick grapes off the fence and she would make fresh grape juice to have with our dinner!

Yep. I had an uncle who raised dairy cows and he kept fresh milk in these cans in a large refrigerator. When he'd pour us kids some out of that fresh milk!!Delicious!!

I remember when the milkman used to drop them off in the morning and the glass bottles would clank together - that sound would wake me up from a dead sleep every time!
that led directly to the cereal bowl!

no, how old are you? i know they used to come in the little glass milk jugs, but i don't recall ever hearing about milk cans.
