I have read between 28 & 32 weeks of pregnancy they can generally flip into the birthing position. Head down. I'm 34 weeks and my little one has been in & out of that position for the past two weeks. My doctor says that's normal and he'll eventually end up where he's supposed to due to less room in the womb when the due date gets closer. Hope this helps.

If its your first pregnancy, then the baby usually "engages" at about 36 weeks. This means the baby is head down and its head is engaged far into your pelvis. If its your first pregnancy, then it does not mean you will be going into labor right away. As I said, it usually occurs 4 weeks before you are full term. It its not your first pregnancy, then it could go either way. It can happen just hours before labor starts or it can happen 2 weeks before you go into labor. Babies often times are head down as early as 24 or 25 weeks and stay that way the rest of the pregnancy.

hello! it depends, im 28 weeks and he has had his head engaged(in the birthing position) for two weeks now. They said that the baby can be in that position for months and nothing happen. so it all just depends on when your little bundle of joy is ready to come! good luck!

how far along are you? this can happen at any time toward the end of the 3rd trimester. when the baby becomes engaged and your belly starts dropping then you can expect to go in labor soon (meaning anywhere from tonight - 2 weeks from now) most babies come when they are ready...the more you force a baby to come early the more difficulties he/she will encounter after birth! good luck and congrats!

Have you had a bloody show? Usually that is a signal of labor being not too far away- more so than the position. My girls were in position for weeks before I went into labor.

Eh..it's really hard to tell. Just bc your baby is in head down position doesn't mean you're going to go into labor anytime soon. My son was head down my whole pregnancy.

My daughter is already in place and I am 31 weeks, I don't know how long she has been that way, but I had an ultrasound yesterday and they told me then...so you can not really tell by the way they are laying. I hope that don't mean she is ready because I can assure her she is not...lol.

No...it means you're in trouble. Or most likely, you'll have a hard time. Something like that happened to one of my cousins and she had to go through surgery. There's no way a child can come out legs first...
