The baby will die if she doesn't eat. They need nourishment too. Actual hunger is something that is NOT learned. ITs like breathing.

Well at first the baby will just get all of his/her nutrients from the mother... the mother will suffer first. Then eventually yes, the baby will be "hungry." Not in the sense of his/her belly being empty, but that the body won't grow properly. This could result in a miscarriage or still birth...
There are many mothers though that don't take care of themselves and the babies come out fine, this is because they steal the nutrients from the mom's body.

Once the baby is here in the outside world, they definitely feel hunger pains! :) They'll tell you when they're hungry!

No and no. If the mom doesn't eat the baby will take from the mom in order to survive even making the mom sick. The baby takes all the nutrients possible out of the mom's body. When babies are born, they aren't really hungry for a few days, usually about the time the mom's milk comes in is when the baby gets hungry. The baby was being fed in the womb by the umbilical cord.

A baby will suck every bit of nutrition out it's mom while en utero. A pg mom who doesn't eat will loose her health, her teeth and her bone mass. However, it takes very little food to maintain. I had hyper emesis w/ my 1st and spent a lot of time on I.V's. I ate saltines and water. She was born at 7 lbs 10.5 oz and was super healthy.

All of my babies were born hungry! They nursed like crazy from the get go.
